"Sober minds" must prevail over emotional calls for withdrawal… only the chickenhawks in Tweedle-D.C. could say this shit with even a remotely straight face…
sober minds? and which minds would those be? the same minds that, drunk with power after the turkey-shoot in Afghanistan, stumbled aimlessly about the planet, eager to pick another fight like a barroom brawler…?
the bullshit-o-meter is hummin’ steadily these days; my ears burn as i hear the latest set of ‘oft-repeated phrases’ being brought into play:
- we are exhorted to "stay the course", like lemmings… by the pied-pipers whose justification is, basically "we’ve screwed up so badly so far, you might as well stay in the handbasket, and enjoy the ride"…
- we are told we must not adopt "a policy of cut and run"… c’mon, now — is that actually a policy option? what are the other choices: bob and weave? duck and cover???
- and, of course, we are reminded of the ever popular "war on terror" we’re waging, that has no boundaries, no borders, no enemy ( unless you count, well, everybody ) and no time frame…
what’s up, ameriKKKa? are we so willing to shirk the responsibility required to actually govern ourselves, that we’ll pretend to be swayed by this second-rate sloganeering???
"cut and run", for fuck’s sake — as if all of our foreign policy has been reduced to a game of chicken…
