…to put out the fire… or at least, give me a mirror: because i gotta see how fuckin’ stupid these lunatics in Tweedle-D.C. think i look…
…prisoners are tortured in Abu Ghirab and Guantanamo — but that’s just "a few rotten apples"… we liberated Iraq from Hussein; but now, their former interim prime minister, a Shiite, admits that conditions are now at least as bad as they were under Hussein…
…now, we’re inadvertently desecrating our enemies’ corpses… given that i’m willing to accept the explanation that the soldiers who burnt the bodies of Taliban casualties did so for "hygenic reasons", it doesn’t explain why psy-ops slugs verbally desecrated their corpses…
i mean, does anyone honestly believe that deriding the enemy as faggots and cowards for allowing "your fighters to be laid down facing west and burnt" is done for any other purpose? how long before we as a nation realize that the wrong things, done for even the best of reasons, are still wrong… ?

let’s just ask the damned question already — how long does it take to determine whether someone is such a threat to these United States, that we have to lock them away for possible the rest of their lives?
i mean, Jose Padilla is finally brought up on charges — but, not the charges that had him locked up for more than three years… huh?
do i have this straight: we locked him up for years because he was such a threat to national security… but now claim we can’t actually charge him with what any of the thngs we detained him for because of — you guessed it — national security???
no, no, NO people!!! you can’t have it both ways… you can’t wave the "enemy combatant" thing in my face as an excuse for turning these United States into Russia circa 1937, then claim that the same reason you might lock me for the rest of my life, is why you can’t tell me why you’ve locked me up?!!
"they hate [us because of] our freedom"… isn’t that the rap? so why is our own government the only entity that has attacked freedom in these United States? i was told, weeks after September 11th, 2001 that if i didn’t go about spending money and living my life as before, then the terrorists would have already won.
but, if "their" goal is to attack and destroy our "freedoms", then it would seem that one of the biggest groups of "enemy combatants" is the bunch of lunatics in Tweedle-D.C. - just consider this here list:
- allegation of torture and abuse
- incarceration without charge, sentence or time limit
- suspension of civil liberties for its own citizens
- federal police force with ever-expanding powers to invade the private lives of said citizens
- the constant spectre of an unspecified enemy to justify otherwise unnacceptable government behavior
tell me:
how does this description differ from every
half-assed banana republic we’ve ever opposed? because you know, there
was much less street crime, unemployment and homelessness in the
Soviet Union… is that where we’re headed?

the USDA Forest Service celebrated its centennial this July 1st; Norway, suprisingly, is also only a hundred years old as well, as of October 30th.
women here in ameriKKKa, however, have another fifteen years to wait, before the centennial of their right to vote. And not because female suffrage was inadvertently overlooked, and reluctantly included after neglect and delay: women’s right to vote was taken away from them after the founding of our nation….
For a nation which purports to be schooling the world on the whole "representative government" tip, this is an indefensible admission. England, India and Israel have all had elected female heads of state — c’mon, people… India? Hardly the world center of progressive gender politics…
ameriKKKan women had only been permitted to vote for forty-six years when India elected a female prime minister, who would ultimately serve more years as PM than FDR served as President!
"Old Europe" outpaces US in this regard as well: Germany elects it’s first female chancellor, and even Liberia, not the world’s best example of effective goverment, has elected a female ruler.
yet the big news here is that "Commander in Chief", the TV show about a female POTUS, has been picked up for a full season… wow: progress…
at this rate, ameriKKKan women will celebrate the centennial of their right to vote long before they’ll get to use it to elect one of their own as President of these United States…
who knows? if we’re actually successful over there, Iraq may elect a woman leader before we do…

people, people, PLEASE!!! STOP with the damned email forwarding already!!!
it isn’t just that email forwarding is a maddening form of user-induced SPAM…
it isn’t just that i’ve been using email for fifteen fuckin’ years now, and thus, I’ve seen all of the Nigerian bank scams, MLM schemes, novelty photos, chain
letters, purity tests, pleas from terminal cancer patients, "free blue jeans" offers, and every damned top ten joke list g*d ever permitted….. what about the Darwin Awards? how come nobody ever forwards me the damned Darwin Awards anymore???
man… it isn’t even just because, as a computer geek and IT professional, I subscribe to all the major security alert lists, and thus, have seen all the real virus alerts long before the third- or fourth- hand "warning" you so conscientiously lob my way arrives….
no: what really irks me, is that the only email i ever get from most of you fuckers, is some damned stupid, INBOX clogging, SPAM-filter confusing fucking forward!!!
STOP IT!!! Send me a real damned electronic letter, addressed to me, or…. shut the fuck up already!!!
Sorry…. just had to get that out….

and now, they intend to drown us in overwrought platitudes….
"Sober minds" must prevail over emotional calls for withdrawal… only the chickenhawks in Tweedle-D.C. could say this shit with even a remotely straight face…
sober minds? and which minds would those be? the same minds that, drunk with power after the turkey-shoot in Afghanistan, stumbled aimlessly about the planet, eager to pick another fight like a barroom brawler…?
the bullshit-o-meter is hummin’ steadily these days; my ears burn as i hear the latest set of ‘oft-repeated phrases’ being brought into play:
- we are exhorted to "stay the course", like lemmings… by the pied-pipers whose justification is, basically "we’ve screwed up so badly so far, you might as well stay in the handbasket, and enjoy the ride"…
- we are told we must not adopt "a policy of cut and run"… c’mon, now — is that actually a policy option? what are the other choices: bob and weave? duck and cover???
-
and, of course, we are reminded of the ever popular "war on terror" we’re waging, that has no boundaries, no borders, no enemy ( unless you count, well, everybody ) and no time frame…
what’s up, ameriKKKa? are we so willing to shirk the responsibility required to actually govern ourselves, that we’ll pretend to be swayed by this second-rate sloganeering???
"cut and run", for fuck’s sake — as if all of our foreign policy has been reduced to a game of chicken…

…lay in state in the Capitol Rotunda in D.C., the first time a woman had ever been so honored…
the good thing is that, say what you will about ameriKKKa, it does occasionally, er… rise to the occasion, and not only does the right thing, but exceeds our expectations and shines like the stars in our flag…
…the bad part is that, here in the 21st century, we even have to acknowledge her noble, low-key act of rebellion… we’re not talkin’ about the "Civil" War here: the defining act of the ameriKKKan civil rights movement occurred within living memory…
so, well within the lifetimes of most of the men currently in charge of the asylum in D.C., white ameriKKKans not only had the audacity to parade about as if they were the master race: they had made it the law of the land…
…and people wonder why the term "Homeland" bothers me so much…

Jean Charles who? i’m sure you’re asking… Jean Charles de Menezes, a 27-year-old Brazilian electrician, who cops shot dead in a London subway because he had been identified as Hussain Osman, a suspected bomber…
seven shots, in the back of the head with hollow points — because they thought he was a terrorist… and, they defend this as a righteous shooting, talking up their "Operation Kratos" shoot-to-kill policy, extolling it’s capabilities to make the public safer from terrorism… all the while ignoring one very simple fact:
the very first time they implemented this policy, they COMPLETELY FUCKED UP!!! here’s a news flash for these clearly brain-dead, fear addled zombies, a basic truth that any public school student knows:
Theory and practice do not count towards a grade: ONLY the actual performance matters
HELLO!!! Is this thing on??? People; it is waaaay past time to wake the fuck up, already! Just how fucking scared are you, of bogeymen and threats that might occur, that it’s acceptable that the cops, YOUR OWN police force, might blow your fuckin’ head off, accidentally, in the course of "protecting" you?
i–… i’m astounded that i actually have to address this point, in print, to an allegedly intelligent audience but, here goes: death, among other things, is what they’re supposed to be protecting us from. Not WITH…
the problem with the use of excessive force is that it’s irreversible. the problem with giving presidents, legislators… anyone the power to use excessive force is that, in the end, they’re just as chickenshit scared as we are.
london’s abovementioned tragedy is proof positive; these were elite cops, not beat cops, that murdered Jean Charles… if they fucked up a visual ID, and mishandled the encounter fatally, who gives a shit what their intentions were? we need steady hands on the holsters, boys, not hands quivering with fear and shooting at shadows…
people who can’t tell an arab from a brazilian have the right to shoot you dead… do you honestly feel safer now?

say what you will about the bastards currently in charge of the asylum in D.C.: they are nothing if not effective strategists… Dubya starts the latest "talking points" series, protesting that nobody better not go re-writing no history about how ameriKKKa got into this war — then promptly re-writes history himself…
weapons of mass destruction, you fucking liar! remember the crack about how "we don’t want the smoking gun to be a mushroom cloud"? remember that bullshit?!
they now try to paint it as if they merely suggested that Iraq had WMDs… in fact, there was no such acryonym — WMD — in the pop lexicon until they used the damned phrase so often that the press abbreviated it to save time and avoid repetition… Hussein was supposed to have mobile labs — rolling truckloads of every deadly, disgusting, infectious microbe known to man… AND nukes… AND the missiles to deliver them!!!
they didn’t just imply these thing: they bitchslapped the UN and punked Europe ( remember back when anyone that didn’t toe the fuckin’ line was obsolete? ‘member??? ), rushed the inspection and finally overstepped established procedures and the advice of allies — because Iraq posed an imminent threat!!!
but then, these are the same Orwellian fuckwits who want us to believe that "Mission Accomplished" doesn’t mean that the primary objective has been, well… accomplished… and now, despite all the mythdirection and propaganda disguised as journalism from the "in-bed-with" reporters, it turns out that we’re the ones using chemical weapons…
but we only used them against insurgents… and we didn’t intentionally target people in the deployment of phosphor bombs… and hell, there were hardly any civilians, anyway… and, as with all the bullshit preceding it, we ameriKKKans are just gonna stick our heads in the sand, and pretend we’re not responsible…. and that we don’t notice where things are heading….

two years pass between the initial exposure of a covert CIA operative, and any indictments related to the issue… "related", so stated, because the only indictments to date have nothing to do with the exposure itself, but the lying afterward…
yet, only weeks after the Washington Post reports that the CIA may be holding detainees in secret prisons in undisclosed locations — an illegal action should it prove to be true — both the Senate Majority Leader and the Speaker of the House of Representatives are calling for immediate investigations… into the source of the leak?
can you say "shoot the messenger"?
this is the sort of bullshit that’s passing for politics and public policy these days… the EU says, in essence "we won’t investigate the claims that member nations may be hosting these prisons: there are none because we say there are none… but, yes; they would be illegal, were they to exist…"
check my memory here:
- don’t we call the WW II veterans the "greatest generation" because they fought against torture, terror and the use of force to impose one’s nation’s agenda?
- don’t we (childishly ) despise the french because, according to our self-congratulatory skewing of history, they either surrender or collaborated?
now, we adopt the worst behavior of our supposed enemy: kidnapping, torture, and the compromise of privacy and free expression in the name of "national security"…
- don’t we make such a big fucking deal, every Memorial and Veterans day, about the noble sacrifice "our boys" made, liberating Europe from totalitarian rule and making the world "safe for democracy"???
how does this all reconcile with a preemptive war that reads like a page from Hitler’s "to do" list? how do we whine about being compared to Nazis when we invade a nation unprovoked in an assault we blantantly label "shock and awe"? are we fucking stupid, or didn’t it occur to the folks in Washington who picked the name that it might be easy to make blitzkrieg analogies?
how do we claim to be the nation which embodies the rule of law, and at the same time
- argue that the actions of our military and intelligence agencies are not subject to our own constitution, or Supreme Court review?
- protest vigorously that "we do not torture" — and in the same breath, argue strenuously for exemptions to an official torture ban…
- incarcerate people for years without trial, without release… without charges? what the fuck is that, people: we rob somebody of their fucking freedom for years, because we’re fighting to make them free?!!
we claim that we must do whatever will ultimately occur, no matter how unspeakably horrible, because we have to protect ourselves from the potential of being attacked, by an enemy that is… what? so immoral that we must do immoral things to prevent the immoral things they may do?
we wouldn’t accept this kind of self-justifying circular reasoning from a five-year-old… yet this is the fundamental policy driving use of ameriKKKa’s military… how did we end up becoming everything we fought the cold war opposing? someone explain that to me…
